It is a joy to welcome Brother Bobby to the TBC team.  Needless to say, he brings a wealth of experience and energy to our focus of assisting churches in reaching our state for the cause of Christ.  For over three decades, he led First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, Florida, to reach that city in an unprecedented manner.  A great soul-winning, mission-minded, God-exalting church was built under the leadership of its shepherd, Bobby Welch.  He is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army where he reached the rank of captain.  He has served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention, ringing very loudly the bell of evangelism for our denomination.  And needless to say, I consider him a very close friend.  Brother Bobby returns to Tennessee where he started his ministry after graduating from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  If you are looking for someone with great character as well as great competence to add to your team, that’s exactly what we’ve done with Dr. Welch.  These are good and exciting days in the Tennessee Baptist family.  We are grateful and thankful that Brother Bobby was willing to come and pour his full attention and passion into what we are attempting to accomplish as a state convention.

Helping West Tennessee

As this article is being written, the waters are cresting in West Tennessee from the flooding of the Mississippi River and its tributaries.  We will be providing long-term Disaster Relief assistance and encouragement for our sister churches located in this devastated area.  It is another opportunity for us to demonstrate the heart and hands of Christ.  Our Disaster Relief teams are preparing now, and people across the state are sacrificially giving.  Thank you for being the kind of “Volunteer State” that you are.
