Christian Women’s / Men’s Job Corps

Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) & Christian Men’s Job Corps (CMJC) seek to provide a Christian environment in which women and men in need are equipped and encouraged for new life in Jesus and where they gain job skills for employment in order to enhance their lives and the lives of their families.

Named in honor of Creely Wilson and Amanda Day. Wilson served at the first Tennessee WMU volunteer Christian Women’s/Men’s Job Corps statewide coordinator. Day served as Tennessee WMU Ministry Specialist and under her leadership the ministry of CWJC/CMJC began in Tennessee. This scholarship is awarded to participants and/or graduates of a Tennessee CWJC/CMJC program.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Have applied to a community college, vocational school, TCAT, continuing education and specialized training or other accredited education institution.
2. Have applied to a not-for-profit school where credits will transfer to another education institution.
3. Must have been involved in mentoring and Bible study at the Tennessee CWJC/CMJC site.
4. Show financial need.
5. Have earned a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (GED or HiSET).

Applicants and their CWJC/CMJC Site Coordinator will be notified in mid to late May if they were awarded a scholarship.

How Can I Help? Locate a CWJC/CMJC site in Tennessee. Contact the site Coordinator to determine specific needs and ways you or your organization can help. Here are some suggestions:

Become a prayer partner. Commit to pray daily for specific needs from your adopted site.

Meet a physical need. Provide or collect items such as Bibles, office or school supplies, meals or healthy snacks, interview clothing, personal hygiene items, teaching supplies, or maintenance and cleaning supplies.

Prayerwalk. Prayerwalk the physical meeting place CWJC/CMJC site, a desired building, the community where the participants live, or the schools their children attend.

Contribute financially. “Cheerful givers” are needed for each TN CWJC/CMJC site. No gift is too small!

Volunteer. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to: mentoring, helping in the office, Coordinatorinating child care or meals, teaching a life-skills class, tutoring, leading a Bible study, writing for the newsletter, or encouraging the other volunteers.

Sponsor an activity or event. Supply small gifts to those completing life-skills classes, collect skin care and makeup supplies, help secure back-to-school supplies for family members, help brighten and holiday, or host a special event.

Upgrade computers. New computers, software, printers, scanners, paper and furniture are often needed.
